prof. Dr. Ralph De Wit studied law at Brussels University (VUB), Belgium,specializing in maritime and air law. He obtained a doctor’s degree (Ph.D.) in 1993. He Is the author of a leading book on multimodal transport: Multimodal Transport. Carrier Liability and Documentation, published Lloyd’s of London Press. Since 1993 he has been a professor with VUB, teaching courses in contract law, transport law and private international law.
Besides his academic activities he also practices law at Antwerp with the law firm Van Doosselaere Advocaten, mainly in maritime and transport law and in general contract law. He regularly speaks at conferences both in Belgium and abroad and he has been consulted as expert in contracts for the carriage of goods by the European Commission and by FIATA.
