Supply evidence of charges

CIFFA Section 3
The Company shall on demand by the Customer provide evidence of any contracts made on its behalf.

NCBFAA Section 19 Compensation of Company
On ocean exports, upon request, the Company shall provide a detailed breakout of the components of all charges assessed and a true copy of each pertinent document relating to these charges.

NSAB Section 7
The freight forwarder shall notify the customer as soon as possible about measures that have been taken, and, upon request, supply evidence of any expenses in connection herewith, as well as prove that he has exercised due diligence in limiting costs and risks.

Peter Jones' Commentary:

The premise of the NCBFAA Conditions is that a forwarder never acts as principal unless it issues a transport document. Accordingly the conditions generally reflect the obligations that arise under the general law of agency.

The CIFFA Conditions also provide that the forwarder acts as agent, and so must provide the customer with commerical documentation and all data that pertains to its agency. See also requirements of BIFA Conditions that oblige forwarder to supply evidence of transport contract.
