Instructions to Forwarder in circumstances affecting performance

CIFFA Section 11.
If events or circumstances, including a Customer's failure to take delivery, occur that affect performance of the Customer's mandate, the Company shall take reasonable steps to obtain the Customer's further instructions.

Peter Jones' Commentary:

The CIFFA Conditions state what ought to be an automatic practice, whatever role the forwarder assumes. if there are unexpected difficulties encountered in the transport of the goods, a forwarder must make reasonable efforts to communicate with the customer/owner of the goods to determine its wishes.
