Concerns of Transport Intermediaries about the Rotterdam Rules

Rule B – the Bubble Burst
Shanghai Editor Ik Wei Chong writes about an important decision of the US Federal Court of Appeals (3rd circuit), which held that EFT’s passing through New York Banks were not “property’ in New York and therefore not subject to Rule B attachments. Rotterdam Signatories hit 19
Since this item was posted the number of signatories has hit the magic number of 20; however, the Rules do not come into effect until 1 year after 20 nations ratify the convention. Even then it will effect only those ratifying, and the signatories list contains many notable absences.
